Located in sunny Miami, Florida, serving Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, and Key Largo.
Though my faith community traces its roots back to the first European immigrants to America, from the beginning, I have officiated at interfaith weddings and baby/child baptisms or dedications.
I am always amazed and delighted at how couples in love find ways to overcome differences between religious and ethnic backgrounds.

About
Meet Dr. Claus — a jovial and seasoned presence in South Florida’s spiritual and academic communities. His background is as eclectic as it is impressive: former senior minister of a large church, trained hostage negotiator, and longtime educator. Until 2019, he taught English literature and composition at Florida International University, and he also founded the Religious Studies program at Miami Dade College–Kendall Campus, where he continues to teach today.
Dr. Claus currently serves as minister of All Souls Miami, a Unitarian Universalist congregation with members joining virtually from across the U.S. and around the world.
He earned his Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary (affiliated with Columbia University) and completed his doctorate at Boston University, focusing on early church history and the history and practice of Christian worship.
In 2009–2010, Rate My Professors named him one of the top 25 professors in the U.S. (ranking 19th), and in 2011, he was chosen by the FIU student body—out of 7,000 faculty—to deliver the university’s inaugural “What Would You Say?” last lecture. That same year, he also presented it at Miami Dade College–Kendall.
